Heinz Memorial Chapel
From the moment you step into the Heinz Memorial Chapel on the University of Pittsburgh campus, you’ll be mesmerized by beauty everywhere you look. From a breathtaking façade to its romantic interior, the Heinz Memorial Chapel is a gorgeous venue for your wedding and provides countless spectacular locations for indoor and outdoor wedding photography.
The chapel, which was dedicated in 1938, hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including weddings for those in the Pittsburgh area. A gift to the University of Pittsburgh by H.J. Heinz, the Memorial Chapel is a non-denominational setting designed using a neo-Gothic architectural style. Throughout this gorgeous Pittsburgh wedding venue, details and materials comprised from the surrounding area add to the overall beauty of the space. One of the loveliest features of the Heinz Memorial Chapel is the stained glass that’s visible from inside and outside the chapel. The stained-glass art encompasses flora and fauna, as well as individuals and symbols made up of nearly 250,000 pieces of artfully placed glass to create 23 spectacular windows. Daytime weddings are especially stunning and create a wonderful backdrop for your wedding photography thanks to the natural sunlight, but the exterior can be illuminated for evening ceremonies, which does wonders to highlight all the spectacular details on the exterior.
Planning a Pittsburgh wedding at the Heinz Memorial Chapel is an option for all, whether you have an affiliation with the university or not. Couples (or even one of the couple) who have degrees from the university will be offered a reduction of 15 percent when securing the venue for an upcoming wedding. Fees for using the chapel include the use of an organist, two onsite event coordinators and reserved guest parking, in addition to the use of the beautiful wedding chapel for both the ceremony and the rehearsal.
A number of guidelines are provided on the Heinz Memorial Chapel’s website to highlight what may be done to the venue during the wedding ceremony – these have been created to preserve the integrity of the chapel, so be sure to look them over before planning additional details.
Heinz Memorial Chapel is perfect for the couple looking for a non-denominational chapel filled with beauty and romance – the surrounding landscape and lawn also provide even more possibilities for your Pittsburgh wedding photography, day and night.
