As a Pittsburgh wedding photographer who spends lots of time with brides getting all dolled up for their big day, I have seen my fair share of bridal suites. From the most luxurious, high-end ones to those minimal and rustic styles, I can find the beauty in all of them. And that’s what the bridal suite photo shoot is about — capturing the realness and emotion held captive in those four walls, where your fairy-tale day starts. Wedding photographers have some go-to shots they like to snap, so here are my top 3 must-haves for a bridal suite photo shoot!
Windows Are a Must
Windows are a personal favorite of mine just due to the sheer versatility they offer. Such a crucial element for getting those airy and light shots, they let you play with your creativity and have the absolutely heartwarming shot of a bride getting ready and a reflection of her, beaming with joy, twice!
Bride or Groom Ensemble
You can get a corner near a pretty natural light source and scatter some make up, hair accessories, shoes and other bridal details, for a beautiful shot that signifies the small things that make up your entire look!
Mirrors and Decorative Touches
Since I’ve attended many Pittsburgh weddings, I can tell you that the typical hotel bridal suite will include a full length mirror. If not, you can try and make arrangement to find one, even if it means calling a friend, a cousin, anyone! You absolutely want to have a beautiful shot of the bride glancing at herself with the mother of the bride and bridesmaids tearing up besides her after they see her all ready for the big day!
Besides, being able to see yourself from head to toe is very important, especially when you’re soon to begin the most photographed day of your life! Making sure everything is in place is a must.
