When you pictured the wedding of your dreams, you probably envisioned beautiful, puffy white dresses, and the most expensive wedding venue on the planet, not second-hand dress shopping and having the reception in your backyard!
When we’re young, we imagine an exquisitely romantic wedding, but the actual cost associated with such an event never crosses our minds. As adults, we realize how expensive a couture gown and a luxurious wedding venue actually is.
As a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, I’ve been involved in countless weddings and met many resourceful brides that became budgeting professionals. So, I can assure you that there’s no need to break the bank! Here I’ve listed my best tips to help you save money on your wedding!
Get creative with your wedding venue
You may be tempted to have your wedding at the coolest and most convenient venue near you. But if you think outside the box, you can discover amazing venues that are not even on your radar, like a country club or an art gallery space.
Invite the people that are currently in your life
You can significantly reduce your wedding list if you stick to this rule. If you haven’t kept in touch with some of your childhood friends or old acquaintances, then they’re probably not expecting an invite! Choose those that play a part in your current day-to-day life.
While I love shooting Pittsburgh wedding pictures of printed invitations, they can cost a lot, and eventually, all these expenses add up. Consider mailing your invitations digitally, or experiment with a personal video invitation for all the important people in your life.
Buy in bulk
Keeping an eye out for bulk deals that can substantially cut down on your costs! Everything, from candy to soaps, you can find a wholesale deal and save a large chunk of your budget.
Create signature cocktails
When you create your own personalized cocktails, you create a fun and original way to show your personality AND save money along the way. This way, you can buy less expensive brands of alcohol, and limit any costly ingredients.
