Some wedding days feel elevated from beginning to end, and this Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel wedding was exactly that. From a relaxed morning getting ready downtown to portraits at the Mellon Institute Columns in Oakland, every part of the day felt intentional, refined, and full of personality.
The bride wore a stunning Jenny Yoo gown paired with Dior shoes, creating a look that felt both classic and modern. One of the standout details was the bridesmaids each choosing their own dress within a cohesive palette. It gave the entire bridal party a layered, editorial feel while still feeling effortless and natural.

The day began at the Renaissance with clean, beautifully styled details. Soft florals, delicate textures, and thoughtful styling set the tone for everything that followed. These quieter moments always create such a strong foundation for the story of the day.

One of my favorite design choices from this wedding was letting the bridesmaids select their own dresses. Keeping the tones cohesive while allowing variation in style created movement, depth, and a more natural look in photos.
It felt elevated without feeling overly styled, which is exactly what you want.

After the ceremony, we headed to the Mellon Institute Columns in Oakland for portraits. This is one of the best locations in Pittsburgh for couples who want something timeless and architectural without feeling heavy.
The scale of the columns, paired with soft natural light, creates a look that feels clean, classic, and high-end. It gives just enough structure while still allowing the couple to be the focus.

Back at the Renaissance, the reception space was filled with soft light, warm tones, and an elegant atmosphere. These portraits added a more editorial feel to the gallery while still staying true to the overall style of the day.
This is where the mix of timeless and modern really came together.

The reception design by Lisa Riviere was layered, romantic, and incredibly intentional. Candlelight, soft florals, and glass textures created a space that felt warm and inviting while still looking refined.
These are the kinds of details that photograph beautifully and elevate the entire gallery.

One of the most impactful moments of the night was the couple’s entrance down the staircase. The overhead perspective, the candlelight, and the movement of the veil created a scene that felt cinematic and full of energy.

Later in the evening, we created a few more styled portraits inside the hotel. These images bring contrast into the gallery and give that polished, high-end finish that balances out the softer moments earlier in the day.
This Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel wedding was the perfect mix of classic and personal. From the custom bridesmaid styling to the portraits at Mellon Institute and the candlelit reception, every part of the day felt elevated without losing authenticity.
If you’re planning a wedding in Pittsburgh and want a clean, timeless, and refined look, pairing the Renaissance with Mellon Institute portraits is an incredible option.
